It has been a while since my last kitchen remodel post. The reason for that was the long (4-plus weeks) wait for the countertops. Well, this past week has been a flurry of crazy activity. Tuesday afternoon, counter installation; Wednesday morning, plumbing; Thursday and Friday, tile installation. So at the end of the week, what do we have? A working, stunningly beautiful new kitchen. Look for yourselves.
It has been two months since this kitchen saw running water. I’m glad that I haven’t needed commitment to a mental institution.
Of course there’s still small stuff to do, but I’m not sweating it: the final electrical inspection, moving the outlet for the oven to help it fit more snugly in its niche, coating the grout with a stain resistant material and installing the trim along the floor. And of course somehow we managed to jam a bread knife in a drawer in such a fashion that we cannot open it any longer. We’ve had four people try a whole range of methods, all to no avail. Oh, well. I guess that it is time to customize, with a chainsaw.

Um mm mm, nice kitchen digs. I have hope that one day soon, my Freddie Kruger kitchen will no longer be a nightmare, but first the six unfinished projects before me. Ah, I can dream. Congrats!
It’s positively gorgeous! Love that glass subway tile. So glad to hear that you survived the ordeal intact.
Stevie,
You have a good eye my friend! Love the finished product! Super nice. We remodeled a kitchen two summers ago and well, lets just leave it at…it’s not fun!
About to start my own renovations soon. Everything looks fabulous you must be over the moon. Question what material did you use for your counter tops?
W,
Thanks! Kitchen remod is a nightmare but well worth the wait.
We used silestone which is a man made stone composed of about 94% Quartz and other materials. It is supposed to be stain resistant and have an impermeable surface. Read more about it here
Good luck with your house renovations.
