D300s Nikon with an extra fancy multipurpose 18-200mm lens

The weirdcombos have upgraded to a new fancy and expensive camera. Yoohoo! This should improve the quality of the photos on weirdcombinations.com and impress friends and family due to the massive size and complexity of the new device.

Gosh, so many buttons to press so many settings to play with… exasperating! I still feel a bit intimidated by this monstrosity yet at the same time quite excited. There is a lot of learning ahead. I’m looking forward to it with only mild apprehension.

I just learned about aperture. Among many things that affect the look of pictures is how you control the depth of field. Changing the aperture will make an object in the foreground stand out and blur the background, depending on how small or large you set it. I think that a lot of professionals use this for advertizing and in magazines. Our old Nikon Coolpix camera could be set for “close up,” “portrait” or “landscape.” That’s similar to changing the aperture but the new fabo D300s has a lot more flexibility. Wow! Look at my first shot with this groovy feature:

Like it? I think it’s a pretty cool.
