Nabeela

We thought that they might be Jimmy Nardellos, too, after we went to Zuni the other day and they served them with a salmon dish, though we weren't sure. Do you know how you identify peppers properly? We'd love to learn that.

I am back to let you know that I think the peppers are of the sweet variety(and hence were so mild despite being green). I'm also pretty sure now that they are Jimmy Nardello peppers.

Nabeela,
Isn't it exciting finding something new to experiment with. I am always on the look for new ingredients when shopping for food. Let me know how it turns out.
I have a nice recipe for scallion pancake, check this out: http://weirdcombinations.com/2009/12/scallion-pancakes/
Cheers,

I bought the same pepper from a farmer's market today(San Jose, CA). I searched for pepper varieties online and agree with you that these must be green cayennes. The wrinkly skin gives it away :)
I'm planning to make a dipping sauce with it to have with scallion pancakes(drooling just thinking about it!).

Cosimo,
Thanks for visiting our food blog.
They call green cayenne chili pepper at the market here in San Francisco. This pepper has a mild kick and the avocado tones it down another notch. It is very tasty.
